Gag Birthday Gift Idea for the Office Bestie
If you have a coworker who’s always running on caffeine, this gift is for them.
One of my coworkers is a busy mom & student who loves sparkling orange Celsius and Starbucks, but she’s never prepared for that midday slump. So, for her birthday, I made her an “Emergency Energy Kit.”
It didn’t cost much. My coworker felt seen and got a laugh out of it — which is the best part of gift-giving.
What I Used
- Canva (or Cricut Design Space) – Font: Impact (40.46 size) to mimic “Break In Case of Emergency” signs
- Cricut Maker
- Permanent Cricut Vinyl
- Transfer Tape
- Red magnetic clear window gift box
- 1 Celsius can (from a multipack)
- Hot glue gun to secure the can
- Starbucks gift card (Optional)
How I Made It (Step-by-Step)
1️⃣ Create your design
In Canva (or Cricut Design Space), create a guide that matches the dimensions of your gift box window.
Use the Impact font at a size of 40.46 to recreate the classic “Break in Case of Emergency” look.
2️⃣ Cut and weed your vinyl
Cut your design using your Cricut Maker.
Use a weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl around the letters.
3️⃣ Apply the vinyl to the box
Use transfer tape to pick up the vinyl design as arranged.
Carefully place it on the front window of the box, adjusting for proper alignment before pressing down.
4️⃣ Secure your item inside the box
Mark where you want your item to sit so it appears centered or “floating.”
Apply hot glue to the marked area and place your item (in this case, a Celsius can) on the glue.
Let it cool and set until firmly in place.
5️⃣ Finish and gift
Close the box using the included ribbon.
Place it in a gift bag along with a card & gift card (optional).
Present it to your recipient and enjoy the laughs and smiles!
If you purchase or use the same size box I used for this project, you can download the template I created for this design on Etsy. This makes it easy for you to create your own version.
The template is specifically sized for the red magnetic clear window gift box linked below. If you decide to use a different box size, you will need to create your own design, as resizing this template may cause alignment issues.

Customize It Your Way
This gift is super flexible — it doesn’t have to be an energy drink! You can fill the box with any favorite snack, beverage, or small item that fits inside.
Think of something that reflects the person you’re surprising — whether it’s a treat, a little self-care item, or something fun and unexpected.
It’s simple, funny, and shows you pay attention to the little things 💛
Just make sure it’s small enough to fit inside the box and ideally non-perishable or has a longer shelf life so it stays fresh until the gift is given.
